Lions are obligate carnivores; they have no alternative. Humans do. What other species must do is a poor guide to what we should choose.

Predators kill to survive, without moral options. Humans have thousands of plant foods, industrial supply chains, and the ability to reason about our choices.
Basing ethics on 'what animals do' would also justify infanticide, cannibalism and forced reproduction, all common in nature.
A common counter-argument is that we are 'natural predators,' yet humans lack the claws, sharp teeth, and high stomach acidity required to hunt and eat raw meat safely. While lions must kill to survive, humans have the unique capacity for moral agency and the ability to choose a diet that does not involve suffering. In modern society, our survival no longer depends on predation but on our ability to make ethical food choices.
